If you have a limited amount of your natural tooth left composite resin can be added in layers to build a base for the crown because of its capacity to bond with enamel tooth structure. Composite resin is not robust enough to recreate your entire tooth, but it functions well to create a stable base called a build up. A dental diode laser can be used to gently remove gingival (gum) tissues around a tooth to make it longer. This process is called a gingivectomy.
